Devotional

As Easter approaches and I read back on the resurrection story, one scene I find myself reflecting on in particular is when Thomas refused to believe when the other disciples told him they had seen Jesus. He proclaimed that he would not believe until he touched Jesus’ wounds himself! But why not believe? He had surely seen Jesus perform miracles. Jesus had even told them what was coming! Why would he doubt?!

It seems easy to judge “Doubting Thomas”, but then I think about all the great things I’ve witnessed Him do in my life and in others. I know in my heart that I have all the proof I’ll ever need of His greatness. I also think about all the times I’ve needed Him and He has been there for me…and yet, I also have had moments of doubt. Having faith in Him requires that we believe wholeheartedly…even when the stakes feel too high, even when Goliath seems too big, even when the circumstances seem impossible. Nothing is impossible for Jesus! And when we realize that, we can do only one thing…proclaim Him as “my Lord and my God”!
